Brecon to Merthyr Roman Run.

This event is not for the faint hearted - 16 miles, up through the pass on the Brecon Beacons, down to the lakes of Pontscilli and up over the lovely housing estate that Merthyr is famous for. The finish is just cruel, 200 metres uphill to the Mayor waiting at the top in Cyfarthfa Castle grounds.
Sadly. at around 8 miles, Wendy managed to trip and break her ankle (again) - which has awful repercussions on her ability to take part in the Athens Marathon at the end of October. We all wish her a speedy recovery so that at least she may have the option to take part in one of the shorter races being held in conjunction.

Machen Mountain

This year's popular bank holiday race had a good entry of over 200 runners - including 5 of our members. Sean Taylor was our first man home in 11th position in a time of 44 mins. Dimitri chased him but was just one minute slower - finishing in 20th position in 45 mins. Julie Davies faced stiff competition in her category, 6th woman home, 64 overall - her time was 52 mins. New girl Rhian Jinny-Jones had an excellent run, finished 114 overall in under an hour at 58 mins - and then yours truly brought up the rear (as usual) 68 mins, 178th.
