Scoring. AMENDED FEBRUARY 2010
5 points to every runner entering and starting the race

Points awarded with respect to club finishing position - AMENDED FEB. 2010:-
Scoring capped at 10 points for coming first within your own team - no matter how many members entered.

First Griffithstown runner to finish gets 10 points, next gets 9 etc. etc. Regardless of how many member are participating. Everyone finishing from 9th onwards picks up just one point.

Under the old system, if 20 griffithstown members ran , the first man home got 20 points, 11th man home got 10 points, 20th man home got 1 point.

Under this new scoring, 1st man home gets 10 points, 11th man home gets 1 point, 20th man home gets one point.

** Note - if fewer than 10 men/women take part in a race, point scoring starts at 10 points, and goes down on a sliding scale.

Points awarded for overall finish position in race thus:

Winning - 15 pts
finishing in the top 10% - 10 pts,
11 - 20% = 9pts
21 -30% = 8pts,
31 - 40% = 7pts,
41 - 50% = 6pts,
51 - 60% = 5pts, 
61 - 70% = 4pts,
71 - 80% = 3pts,
81 - 90% = 2pts,
91 - 100% = 1pt

Women and men will be split to reflect scoring within own gender category.

The above point system has been devised to reward runners for competing in  races and for their performance within the race.
