Griffithstown Harriers was set up in September 1983 and is recognised as a well established running club in South Wales.
We are based at Glan-yr-Afon Leisure Ltd, (formerly The Oasis) on Edlogan Way, Cwmbran, Torfaen, within easy reach of Newport & Pontypool.
We are a friendly social club, welcoming runners of all abilities who wish to participate in road running, multi terrain, fell running and cross country events. The club participates in the Gwent League and the Gwent Leisure Centre Leagues

Celebrating our 25th year in 2008, Griffithstown Harriers take pride in welcoming all abilities to the sport of running. Training with like-minded, experienced runners reduces the risk of injuries and helps maintain motivation.

Griffithstown Members enjoy success at 29th Man v Horse Event - 14 June 2008

View-Llanwrtyd Wells

9 members went up to Llanwrtyd Wells to race against the horses over this gruelling 22 mile course. We entered 2 teams to do the distance in relays, and 4 members undertook to race the whole thing.

Dimitri was first home in 2 hours, 44 mins. He finished 9th in his category, and 16th overall. A stunning achievement.

Emma put in an outstanding performance, winning 2nd Ladies Prize. Her time was 2:58:26. Sadly she missed the first lady by just 30 seconds.

Julie Davies was next in, in a time of 3:09:40, and was actually 1st Lady Vet - but a mix up on her entry meant this was overlooked.

Jan Richards also completed the whole 22 miles, finishing in a time of 3 hours 57 mins.

Our relay teams - Pete Rodger, Nick Walsh & Richie ("Dont Spare the Horses") were 8th overall, whilst the "Griff Girls" - Emma, Wendy and Christine - were stunned and delighted to discover they had taken 3rd ladies team prize. (39th overall)

The accumulated times for each team were 2:51:59 and 3:23:26.

258 individual runners raced the horses, and 73 relay teams.

Results have been added to our Results page.
